However the FSB counters that claim, saying that the Estonian was captured on Russian territory.

According to Russian news agency ITAR-TASS the FSB arrested an officer of the Estonian Security Police who was undertaking an intelligence operation.

“An official named Eston Kohver of the Tartu office of the Estonian Security Police was arrested on the territory of the Russian Federation. A Taurus handgun with bullets was discovered on his person as well as 5000 euros in cash, special equipment for covert audio-recording and other materials that have intelligence-related characteristics,” claimed the FSB.

Estonian Security Police have also confirmed that the abducted officer is indeed Eston Kohver.
